Looking ahead to Nor-Shipping 2023

The count-down to Nor-Shipping 2023 has begun and we are looking forward to highlighting new developments across the Danelec product and technology portfolio at what is expected to be the year’s biggest maritime industry event.

Taking place in the town of Lillestrøm, near Oslo in Norway on 6-9 June, Nor-Shipping is a global conference and exhibition dedicated to ‘Ocean Solutions’, meaning everything from ship building and technology to offshore equipment and renewable energy innovations will be in the spotlight.

Well-known for its future-gazing, sustainability-focused and pioneering content, Nor-Shipping can be counted on as a compass to where the maritime industry is heading, and right now, digitalization and reducing greenhouse gas emissions are at the top of the agenda.

High frequency vessel data collection for efficiency, compliance, and cost savings

The Danelec stand at Nor-Shipping will invite visitors to explore our Ship Performance Monitoring system and intelligent Maritime IoT infrastructure, both of which unlock new efficiencies that help to meet stringent new environmental regulations like the Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) while delivering lower operational costs.

The new type-approved Kyma ShaPoLi (Shaft Power Limiter) system, which provides the necessary compliance with IACS, will be a focus for us at Nor-Shipping. The system uses information from the popular Kyma Shaft Power Meter, which is installed on more than 5000 ships, to provide the information required by the mandated EEXI and EEDI schemes.

New developments in this area include ShaPoLi in the cloud, which provide information from the system online so that shore-side staff can track engine usage and submit reports should any thresholds be broken. Another new cloud-enabled module is the CII Solution, which offers complete real-time insight into both vessel and fleet CII ratings, for both the year-to-date and year-by-year. Importantly, the module also features notifications in case of degraded ratings, allowing action to be taken quickly.

Voyage Date Recorder

As the leading manufacturer of ship Voyage Data Recorders (VDR), we are also looking forward to highlighting the capabilities of our latest generation DM100 (G2), which offers significant advantages over other VDRs in the market including a built-in AIS emergency transponder in the float free caspule and twice as much recording capacity.

We recently introduced new VDR Remote Services for our full range of VDR (even older models), allowing shore offices to securely log on and download data by connecting via our eService web-based platform. Through this, users can diagnose VDR and connected sensor status, prepare for APTs and service attendance, transfer recorded VDR data to shore in an emergency and even track their fleets.

But it’s not just the hardware and network benefits to discuss at Nor-Shipping. We’re keen to ensure that our customers know we are committed to long-term support, with the horizon for DM100 G2 currently set for 2036 at the very minimum. This is possible because we control spare part production and enjoy a reliable, secure supply chain.

Make sure to ask us about this, and all our other technology and service developments when you visit us in Hall B, on stand B02-34 at Nor-Shipping next month!
