DANIELS AND CATALYST INSTALL P25 DISPATCH SOLUTIONAPCO - Houston, TX – August 1st, 2010: Daniels Electronics Ltd., a leading international supplier of high reliability Land Mobile Radio (LMR) base stations and repeaters for public safety and natural resource applications, and Catalyst Communications Technologies, Inc. a leading provider of IP based dispatch and interoperability solutions to the public safety mobile radio market, announced today that they have installed a Project 25 (P25) Dispatch solution in the City of Hoonah, Alaska. The second generation IP digital interface between the two companies’ products supports P25 Unit ID and the P25 Emergency Indicator. The Daniels digital Universal Interface card (UIC), provides a digital Ethernet connection from the Daniels MT-4E P25 radio system to other LMR subsystems in a network. The updated Universal Interface Card provides the City of Hoonah with enhanced signals through an Ethernet interface including P25 Unit ID and Emergency Indicator. Catalyst provides a full-featured dispatch console for the Daniels MT-4E base station routing digital audio and control messages through an Ethernet interface. Hoonah’s dispatchers see the Unit ID of a P25 subscriber radio, translated into an alias from a centralized database, and stored for visual review and use in conjunction with integrated voice recording. Similarly the dispatchers see Emergency messages from P25 subscriber units and can access these records for recent calls right from there consoles. John Millan Police Chief-Public Safety Director, City of Hoonah noted that “Since the installation of the digital solution of Catalyst & Daniels equipment coverage is much improved and all dead areas are gone”. “I am extremely pleased with this system”. Joan, Head Dispatcher for City of Hoonah also made the comment: “Everything at my Catalyst VoIP console is instantly available and centrally located, for active voice calls, tone outs and recall of previous records. The audio clarity is excellent! We appreciate the level of support that is available as well, in our area” REVL Communications and Systems in Anchorage, AK, installed the combined solution and provides radio service to the City.
Hoonah, AK Catalyst solutions support low bandwidth Internet Protocol (IP) connections such as those used by satellites. Agencies can access Daniels base stations across the links for dispatch and interoperability with a variety of radio systems such as SmartNet, EDACS, and other systems as well as commercial Push-to-Talk solutions such as Verizon Wireless and Sprint Nextel. Daniels MT-4E Digital P25 Radio systems are known for their reliability, high performance and customizability. The customizability is due to the modular construction of the transmitters, receivers and associated modules, which are designed for a variety of frequency bands from 136 - 869 MHz. This modularity allows the custom configuration of radio systems to meet users’ specific applications such as base, repeater and crossband systems. The collaborative effort with Catalyst, using their Voice over IP and IP Control technologies, has further enhanced the flexibility of Daniels radios and added new functionality.
