PRODUCT NEWS
HF Radios for the Canadian market
Daniels Electronics has recently signed an agreement with Codan ( Australia) Ltd (www.codan.com.au) to distribute their line of HF radios (base stations and portable man packs) in Canada. Since 1959, Codan has been providing customers in rugged and remote areas in over 150 countries with reliable High Frequency (HF) radio communications equipment worldwide. Daniels has added these HF products to its portfolio to complement our existing VHF/ UHF radio line. The products are approved by Industry Canada for use in Canada and Daniels Electronics offers full sales, service and installation support.
.
The Codan 2110 Manpack HF radio has an intelligent battery management system and delivers low current consumption allowing continuous operation on a single battery charge for several days. The radio fully complies with international standards including IC, CE and FCC radio type approvals, MIL-STD-810 environmental standards, and both FED-STD-1045 and MIL-STD-188-141B ALE. The radio and battery compartment are completely waterproofed and can be fully immersed. A range of antennas, backpacks and battery types are available. The radio also features a fully integrated fast antenna tuner that automatically selects tuning modes, antenna types and initiates the tuning cycle. With the Voice Encryptor option, the 2110 uses SAFE voice encryption technology to ensure sensitive information is communicated in confidence.
The Codan NGT ASR HF base station radio meets US
government HF requirements for homeland security, emergency preparedness and disaster relief. It is highly interoperable between military, civilian and other government organizations for deployment into existing HF networks. The NGT ASR complies with industry standards including IC, FCC Part 90, NTIA compliant, and MIL-STD 810F environmentals. Each NGT ASR radio comes with JITC-certified MIL-STD 188-141B ALE, and supports US Government HF applications, including Rockwell Collins HF Messenger e-Mail system, Q9604 high speed modem, and VP-116 Voice Privacy encryption.
Daniels offers Codan HF solutions in base station, mobile (vehicle mount) configurations to support voice, data, telephone, remote control, GPS tracking and voice security communications. Daniels also offers a variety of Codan HF antenna solutions and high power amplifiers to meet specific customer site requirements, and a Windows based radio programming software package. Daniels Launches 8.33 kHz VHF AM Radios
Daniels Electronics has now expanded its VHF AM radio product line to operate with narrowband 8.33 kHz occupied bandwidth in the 118-136 MHz aviation band.
The aviation industry in North America is moving from 25 kHz wideband channels to 8.33 kHz channels. This follows the European trend where aircraft there have been using 8.33 kHz channels for several years. Therefore, Daniels is responding to a growing need in the marketplace.
Daniels manufactures ground stations that can be used in several applications such as ATICS transmitters or as crossband repeaters to extend coverage from airports to distant aircraft.
With a crossband repeater, the radio signal from the control tower is transmitted to the Daniels repeater on one frequency band (UHF FM), and then the repeater retransmits the signal on another band (VHF AM) to the aircraft. |

President's Desk
2006 is off to an exciting and busy start and we are quite enthused about the numerous new product announcements we have to share with you this month. The release of the TIA Fixed Station standard represents a significant step forward for P25 and our UIC will shortly support the Fixed Station Interface Standard.
Gaining access to the Codan HF product lines fills a gap that many of you have mentioned to us over the years and now allows us to offer a backup system to your VHF/UHF networks for catastrophic contingency planning. We believe it also complements the briefcase repeater we introduced last year for tactical radio deployments.
Last month we were awarded the “Manufacturer of the Year” by a local business group and we are honored by this recognition among our local peers. http://www.mistic.bc.ca/technews_regional.asp
This month we will be conducting an 8 city series of P25 seminars and we look forward to seeing you at one of the seminars. Please feel free to pass the invitation on to anyone you think might be interested. Finally with IWCE just around the corner we hope you will come by our booth and see all the exciting new developments we have been talking about.
